New Steinschaler Country Cuisine
The down to earth cuisine of a special kind
To provide healthy and tasty food with as many regional and high quality organic products as possible has been
particularly important for us for many years. Based on this approach, we developed over the years our in the meantime
well known “New Steinschaler Country Cuisine".
The deep-rootedness in the Dirndl Valley region forms the basis of our cuisine, whereas we produce more and more fruits,
vegetables and kitchen herbs in our own organically certified gardens. We have been increasingly expanding and refining
our down to earth food since 1999 with wild herbs. And as a special highlight we have introduced decorating our
dishes with edible wild flowers.
Regional food according to the seasons
Our dishes are based on seasonal and regional ingredients that are freshly available in our region. We
take great care to choose suppliers oriented towards organic and sustainable ways.
You will therefore find mostly seasonal delicacies in our menues. These are as fresh and prepared as carefully
as possible. Our slogan is: from the Steinschaler Nature Gardens and our region - directly into the kitchen!
We are happy about the awards that our New Steinschaler Country Cuisine has got through the years,
like e.g. the "Grüne Haube" (the Green Toque for wholesome and natural cooking) we have been awarded already in 2005.
Beside the products from our very own gardens we mostly use raw materials from the Valley of the Dirndl and from
farmers in our Mostviertel region; respectively, we use organic products and other regional products from the so called
Austrian "Regions of Delight". The remaining products – like coffee – we as far as possible buy via Fair Trade partners.
Popular again and again: the Steinschaler salad buffet
Fresh salads from our gardens are already something quite delicious. Add to this the fresh garden herbs,
and all this in organic quality! In addition, our salads often contain healthy and tasty wild herbs and
edible flowers, too.
The Steinschaler salad buffets are based, wherever possible, on products from our Steinschaler Gardens. Hence tomatoes
coming mostly from our own gardens are only available in the season. But in their season, the wild and garden herbs
are a veritable must in the salad buffet. Freshly cut chives are another seasonal standard at the Steinschaler Buffet.
Wild herbs salad with cornel cherries
From wild herbs grown in the Steinschaler Gardens a delicious salad is prepared. Wild herbs contain many ingredients
that are important for you, and have a unique and distinctive taste. This wild herbs salad is then further refined
with "Dirndl olives", "olives" made from the cornel cherry, an exceptional speciality of the Steinschalerhof.
The picture on the right shows a plate with the wild herbs salad. An interested guest, marvelling what wild herbs there
were in the salad, has put the various leaves on the side on the plate for inquiring about them in detail.
Meal suggestions
We are more than happy to prepare individual menues for your private celebrations,
like birthdays, weddings, baptism, communion, confirmation, and school leaving examination lunches,
just as company events, Christmas dinners, and incentives. We are also glad to design menus according
your specific wishes.
We can prepare your meals as a buffet or, if you would rather like it, with service.
Or on request, we can also organise a barbecue for your guests.
